About

This one-day Arc Welding Introduction class is designed for beginners who want a practical, hands-on introduction to stick welding. It is ideal for hobbyists, property owners, and anyone looking to learn a durable and versatile welding process for personal projects and basic repairs. Students will learn the fundamentals of Shielded Metal Arc Welding, including how to safely set up equipment, select appropriate electrodes, and understand basic machine settings. Instruction focuses on striking and maintaining an arc, controlling travel speed, and developing consistent weld beads on common materials such as mild steel. The class covers proper electrode handling, joint preparation, and techniques for flat and basic positional welds, along with guidance on identifying and correcting common beginner mistakes. A strong emphasis is placed on safety, proper equipment use, and understanding how variables such as amperage and electrode choice affect weld quality. All welding equipment, safety gear, and sample materials are provided for the class. By the end of the day, students will have a solid foundational understanding of arc welding and the confidence to continue practicing and applying their skills to straightforward, real-world projects.
